The public are being urged to help trace a watch of great sentimental value after it was stolen from an elderly Caister resident.

The distinctive antique wrist watch belonged to the resident’s brother who was killed in Germany in 1945 while serving with the armed forces.

It had been returned to the family and treasured ever since.

Norfolk Police are now appealing for help from the public to find the precious keepsake, which carries a touching engraving in memory of the fallen brother.

PC Joe Konieczny is investigating the theft.

He said: “The watch is very distinctive and we want to speak to anyone who may have been offered it for sale of knows of its whereabouts.

“It is gold with a decorative wrist strap and the reverse of the face is engraved ‘In loving memory of Guardsman Williams Jenkins killed in Germany Sept 1st 1945.”

The watch was stolen in the past month.

Anyone with information should call Sergeant Simon Fisk or PC Konieczny on 101.
