A PAIR of Asda staff were left shaken after being confronted by a knife wielding robber.

The man and woman, aged in their 20s, were walking across the car park of the Great Yarmouth store towards the entrance when they were approached by a single, white male wearing a hooded top and carrying a knife.

The robber, aged in his 30s, threatened the male member of staff and grabbed two Asda shopping bags the pair were carrying, filled with items including clothes, and ran off across the garage forecourt towards the footbridge near the train station.

Two members of the public recovered one of the bags and its contents and took it to the store where it was returned to its owner.

Neither of the victims were hurt during the incident but were left shocked and 'greatly distressed' by what happened.

Crimestoppers is now appealing for information about the robbery, which happened at around 9.50pm on Monday, November 5, and is offering a reward of up to 1,000 to members of the public who can help.

The charity is stumping up the four-figure reward for information leading to the arrest and charge of the individual responsible.

Ann Scott, eastern regional manager for Crimestoppers, said: 'These two people were going about their business quietly having finished work when they were confronted with someone holding a knife. This ordeal must have been extremely distressing for the pair.

'You have nothing to fear by coming forward to Crimestoppers with any information you may have. We do not ask for your name and no call is traced or recorded. You won't have to give a statement, speak to the police or go to court – we only want to know what you know, not who you are.

'In the 24 years that Crimestoppers has been running we have never broken our anonymity promise.'
