Norfolk police have issued an unusual warning for people in Norfolk not to allow themselves to be filmed in “compromising positions” - after attempts were made to blackmail men who committed lewd acts online.
Police in the county say they have received several complaints about blackmail involving social media webcams.
Reports have been received about men being contacted on social media websites by people asking them to expose themselves and commit lewd acts online.
The men have then been re-contacted by an unknown woman claiming to have recordings of the incidents, followed by distribution and blackmail threats, often for money in Euros.
Police would like to remind users of social networking sites to remain cautious about their behaviour online to avoid placing themselves in a compromising position.
