A man was punched in the head as he walked through Norwich city centre in an unprovoked daytime attack.

The attack happened in Tombland, at the corner of Queen Street.

The victim, aged in his 40s, was walking along and looking at his Apple iPad when he was attacked.

He was verbally abused and then his iPad was knocked out of his hands.

His attacker punched him in the head, knocking him to the ground.

Members of the public helped the man up.

Norfolk police have appealed for witnesses to the attack, which happened at about 3.45pm last Thursday.

Anyone with information should call PC Matthew Springall on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  • This was an awful thing to happen but have to say I get very fed up with people walking into me because they are so intent on not missing a single message on their iPad or phone, seen people walk in front of cars because they can't be out of touch with their friends for more than a few seconds

  • Clearly this man deserved to be punched in the head for using an ipad, not only that but perhaps he should be fined and put in a cell, to be taught a lesson for walking in the possession of apple software. Meanwhile the other person involved in the incident can walk free, un apprehended without fear of prosecution.
