Man charged with five knifepoint robberies of women’s handbags in Norwich

A 40-year-old Norwich man has been remanded in police custody after being charged with a series of knifepoint robberies of women’s handbags.

Michael Velvic, of Cotman Fields, will be kept in custody until Friday, February 1 before appearing at Norwich Crown Court - after appearing at Norwich Magistrates Court this morning.

He has been charged with five counts of robbery in relation to offences in Drayton Road and Magdalen Road on June 16, Aylsham Road and Westwick Street on October 30 and Marriotts Way on October 31.
