A man has appeared in court in connection with a murder of a woman in Godric Place, Norwich, and is due to stand trial in September.

Officers were called to a flat at Godric Place, off Bowthorpe Road, on Saturday, July 29, shortly before 2.30pm and the body of 49-year-old Farnaz Ali was found.

Danny Robert Williams, 26, of Godric Place, has been charged with her murder and appeared at Norwich Crown Court via a video link from prison.

Williams spoke only to confirm his name during the short hearing.

Judge Anthony Bate fixed his trial date to take place on September 10.

Jonathan Goodman, who appeared for Williams, agreed with the new date set for the trial.

Williams was said to be a neighbour of Ms Ali. After the body of Ms Ali was found, people in Godric Place paid tribute to Ms Ali, who is understood to be a former University of East Anglia (UEA) student.
