A familiar face has taken over as the police inspector in charge of the North Walsham, Cromer, Sheringham and Stalham areas.

Kersty Brooks was a sergeant based at North Walsham for seven years from 2007 onwards, before spells as acting inspector at Cromer and Sheringham and then Fakenham.

Now she has returned as sector inspector for the four town areas, based at North Walsham and says “It is almost like coming home.

“It’s the area I know well and I am confident that knowledge of the area and the issues will help us build on the work that has been done.

“I come from a Safer Neighbourhood Team background, where I am used to engagement with the community, solving their problems and dealing with their priorities.”

The mother of two teenagers from Norwich replaces Matt Dyson who has moved to the Great Yarmouth prisoner investigation centre.

Her elevation comes as another woman, Insp Teresa Futter, takes over in charge of the Fakenham area which includes Holt and Wells.

Next month there will also be change at the very top as superintendent in charge of the north Norfolk area, when Stuart Gunn replaces Carl Edwards who is moving over to King’s Lynn.
