Boxer Herbie Hide quizzed by police as man is arrested in Norfolk drugs probe
Former world heavyweight boxing champion Herbie Hide was quizzed by police today investigating the supply of Class A drugs.
Mr Hide voluntarily attended Wymondham Police Investigation Centre (PIC) with his solicitor this afternoon.
It follows an undercover investigation by The Sun newspaper in which the 41-year-old allegedly offered to rig a boxing fight and passed a reporter’s phone number onto a man who then set-up a £400 cocaine deal with them.
A Norfolk Constabulary spokesperson confirmed: “A 21-year-old man was arrested at an address in Norfolk last night on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs.
“He was interviewed today at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre (PIC) and released on bail pending further enquiries.
“Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man voluntarily attended Wymondham Police Investigation Centre this afternoon with his solicitor and was questioned by detectives in connection with the supply of illegal drugs.
“Enquiries continue and a file will be submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in due course.”
Mr Hide claimed he was set-up and had never rigged fights or supplied drugs.
