Two men have been arrested following an armed incident at a camp site in Norfolk this afternoon.


Police were called to the scene in Yarmouth Road in Ormesby, near Yarmouth, at about 10.15am today to reports of a man making threats. There were no reported injuries and no threat to the wider public.

Officers from the constabulary’s armed response units and police negotiators were in attendance to resolve the situation peacefully and the area was cordoned off in the interests of public safety.

The matter was brought to a peaceful conclusion at around 1pm. Two males, aged 33 and 39 were arrested during the incident and remain in police custody at this time.

A police spokesman said: “Public safety is paramount and our specially trained officers led this operation. Throughout the incident there were no indications of a wider risk to the community.”

Around ten police cars have been reported to be at the scene in Yarmouth Road,

The landlord of the Grange pub, Jonathon Childs, posted on his Facebook account at midday that there was an armed siege going on.

He said: “Bit of a situation going here atm situation will be resolved soon. We are British we keep calm and carry on.”

An hour later, he posted: “Think they got the situation sorted we are open again sorry for any inconvenience but it was out of even my control.”
