Police have condemned the actions of a thieving duo who stole a vulnerable man’s wallet in Norwich.

The victim, in his 50s, was walking along St Martin’s Road using a stick at around 4pm on Saturday when he had a fall.

A man and a woman helped him up and walked him to the gate of his property on The Watering. The victim then got his wallet out of his pocket, and the man took it from him and he and the woman ran off back towards St Martin’s Road.

PC Holly Harwood, who is investigating the theft, said: “This couple appear to have deliberately targeted this vulnerable man, gaining his trust by helping him home before taking advantage of the situation and stealing his wallet. He was already distressed by the fall and was left completely distraught by the theft.”

“I want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the couple helping the man or the theft, or may have seen a couple matching the following description nearby beforehand or afterwards.”

The male offender was white, 5ft 7 inches tall, of medium build and was wearing a light blue long sleeved hooded top with an emblem on the front, red/orange jogging bottoms and white trainers.

The woman was white with long brown hair and was wearing light-coloured jeggings, black boots, a black hat and a long black coat.

Anyone with information should contact PC Harwood at the Norwich North Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
