Another member of an organised crime gang responsible for bringing cocaine worth £750,000 from London to Norwich has been jailed for 21 months.

Gaetano Cassilo, 27, got involved in the crime gang which sourced the cocaine in London and transferred it to Norfolk where it was “diluted” using cutting agents

On Thursday four members of the gang, who were mainly from Albania, were jailed at Norwich Crown Court and yesterday Cassilo, of Waltham Forest, London, who admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine was jailed for his part in the operation.

Martin Ivory prosecuting, said the following a police investigation, between October last year and May this year, a total amount of 2,888 grammes of cocaine was recovered. He said the street value was somewhere in the region of £750,000.

He said that Cassilo, who was of previous good character, played a lesser role but helped with the transfer of money and also brought drugs from London to Norwich.

Mr Ivory said that Cassilo said he was paid about £200 to £500 for what he did.

Sentencing him, Judge Stephen Holt said he accepted his involvement was to a lesser extent and said: ““Quite how or why you became involved is a complete mystery.”

Jonathan Morgans for Cassilo said that he was a hardworking young man who had been working in the construction industry when he became involved with the gang.

“He was earning decent enough money and then he came into contact with people who offered him an opportunity for easy money. He had no idea of the seriousness of what he was getting involved in.”

He said Cassilo had made the “biggest mistake of his life.”
