Conmen search through elderly woman’s bedroom during distraction burglary in Gorleston

A woman in her 80s has been conned by distraction thieves who went into her home to talk about roadworks.

Police are appealing for information after two men entered the house in St Hughs Green in Gorleston, near Great Yarmouth, around 3.30pm yesterday.

When the woman challenged them, they said they called to tell her about noisy roadworks due to start the following day.

One of them took her into the front room to show her through the window, while the other man remained in her kitchen.

After the men had left, the victim found her bedrooms had been searched and money was missing from her purse.

The first man is described as white, 30 years old or younger, around 5 foot 6 or 7 inches tall, of large build with a round face and short dark straight hair. He was wearing a dark jacket and trousers and was softly spoken.

The second man is described as white, slimmer than the first man with fairer hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Steve Moseley at Operation RADAR on 101.
