Mr Djalili has appeared in films including Gladiator, Notting Hill and The Mummy, as well as performing to sold-out West End shows and picking up a selection of comedy awards.

The comedian was also given the Best Actor prize for his lead role in film The Infidel at the Turin Film Festival.

John Bultitude, of Norwich Theatre Royal, said: “We are excited to welcome Omid back to the city. His rich blend of comedy styles and subject matter always make him a hot ticket and we are expecting a busy box office when his show goes on sale.”

As well as touring the country, Mr Djalili is currently working on his first volume of mentors and penning a song for football supporters just in time for the World Cup, which is called England’s Going Out (To Do It Again).

The song sees Mr Djalili rhyming the names of England footballers with Hollywood stars - including couplets such as Wayne Rooney and George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Phil Jagielka and Danny Welbeck and Salma Hayek.

Tickets for the gig, which will be held at the Norwich Theatre Royal on March 22 2015, will be released tomorrow morning at 9.30am. Prices range from £5.50 to £23.
