Lionwood School approached Sainsbury’s supermarket in Pound Lane to say it was organising the trip to educate children about the sea and for their enjoyment.

Sainsbury’s replied and gave the school chocolate treats to raffle and raise the money they needed.

Mr Hutchinson, head of Year 1 explained that the curriculum was theme-based and for the summer term the main content would be about coastlines and the seaside.

He said: “The children’s interest will determine what activities are studied on the day due to our child centred approach to
learning here at Lionwood School – for example they may learn about sealife, things that are washed up on the beach or study the history of the seaside.”

Planning has already started
and during the trip, the children will go to the RNLI’s Henry
Blogg Museum to learn
more about the history of lifeboats past and spend time on
the beach.
