Motorists have been advised to take caution on the roads this morning as visibility is reduced due to heavy fog across Norfolk.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for fog across the East of England.

Affected areas include Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Peterborough, Central Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and Luton.

Norfolk police urged motorists to take care on the roads due to reduced visibility and in a Tweet said: “Please drive carefully and in accordance with the weather conditions.”

Weatherquest forecaster Chris Bell said it was known as an advection fog caused by mild, humid air moving up from the south.

“It will be thicker in the western and southern parts of the region so if you’re travelling that way be careful on the roads.”

He said the fog would start clearing slowly through the morning.
