Councillors have called for pride to be restored to a “tatty” Union Jack flying above their headquarters.
Nich Starling, Liberal Democrat opposition at Broadland District Council, made the case for the flag at the authority’s Thorpe Lodge base, in Thorpe St Andrew, to be improved.
He told councillors the flag was tatty, frayed and “doesn’t seem to have a great deal of pride in the UK”.
He said: “Can I ask you to get onto the case so we can be as proud of the flag as everyone else.”
Shelagh Gurney, Broadland chairman, replied: “When I get home tonight, I will get you one off eBay. No, we will deal with that appropriately.”

Off e-bay? Cheap isn't always best! Buy a decent long lasting, British made flag and make the flagpole more visible.
