A Norwich-based entrepreneur has launched a new national student media venture which aims to combine education and entertainment.
Kieran Miles has signed up 284 UK universities and colleges to LIVE, a venture to serve the student market via an online platform. It features a dedicated television and radio station, and website, streamed to universities and colleges following a sign-up fee.
The 22-year-old, from Hellesdon who was also celebrating his birthday yesterday, unveiled the new venture which is aimed at 16- to 24-year-olds at a special big screen launch event at Norwich’s Odeon Cinema in Riverside.
Content is produced by around 12 staff at LIVE’s Norwich-base in Aylsham Road and then streamed to universities and colleges.
Mr Miles said about £100,000 had been invested in the self-funded scheme and the aim was to create a multi-media platform which enabled students to produce college work and interact with tutors and students in this country, and ultimately across the globe.
“We are a business from Norwich that’s taking on the world,” he said.
“We will redefine the market place as to how students interact with each other.”
