Simon Bishop, opened his store, Wymondham Plumbing Supplies, based in Spur Industrial Estate off Postmill Close, three weeks ago.

Mr Bishop, who lives in Park Lane with his wife, Sam, and their children Henry, 14, and Ellie, 12, has invested tens of thousands of pounds into the business, which is partly funded by his savings.

“I am really enjoying it so far,” he said. “I had the idea to start my own shop in November last year.

“I have always worked as a self-employed plumber, but I have got arthritis in my hands so it’s more difficult to do physical work.

“I would like to make my business successful so I can take some people on and create some employment.” The 46-year-old moved to Norfolk two- and-a-half years ago after spending the past decade living in rural France with his family.

He said that although the standard of education in France was good, he made the decision to move back to the UK so his children would have better job prospects.

“I like helping people out. People can just come in for a bit of advice at no cost.

“My motto in life is to never look back but to look forward, you have got to enjoy what you do,” Mr Bishop added.”
