A Norfolk teen is making an early start on the road to becoming an entrepreneur by opening her first shop on the day of her 18th birthday.
Mandy Jordan, from Hardwick, opened her own beauty and body shop, Mandy Jean make-up and body artistry studio, in Ipswich Road, Long Stratton on November 2, the day she turned 18.
The former Archbishop Sancroft High School pupil in Harleston completed an ITEC Level 3 diploma in theatre, fashion and make-up at the Jackie Hamilton School of Therapies in Norwich to qualify her to start her own business.
She specialises in Kryolan make-up, which is used in films and on TV shows such as ITV’s the X Factor and offers face and body painting and makeovers for photo shoots, weddings, school proms and fancy dress parties.
She also provides cosmetic makeovers to cover up scars, which she said was a specialism not often found in the south Norfolk area.
Her experience also includes time spent working with the Kerri Parker Academy for models in Norwich and on film sets.
She said: “It has been going really well since it started. I have had lots of interest and publicity because there is just nothing like it round here. The premises also fronts onto the A140 so it is really easy to find as well.”
