Norwich Murderers pub features in Grouse top 100 list

PUBLISHED: 12:06 26 November 2010

A popular city centre pub is about to become better known nationwide when it features in a Sunday Telegraph supplement.

For the last two months, Telegraph readers have been nominating their favourite famous pubs for a place in the Famous Grouse Famous 100, as the 100 most unique/historic/interesting pubs across the UK, and Sunday’s list will include The Murderers in Timberhill. The Murderers’ landlord Phil Cutter said: “The Murderers is to appear in a supplement of the Sunday Telegraph, to promote the Grouse 100.

“The Telegraph has been down to the pub and taken some absolutely stunning pictures. I’m not aware that there are any other pubs in Norwich which have been included.”

Trading as a pub since at least 1841, the Murderers is known by its nickname after the landlady’s daughter was murdered by her husband in June 1895. Its fascinating story is told through original newspaper articles framed around the bar area.

The Evening News has been urging punters to return to pubs as part of our Love Your Local campaign.
