Cleaning products manufacturer Jeyes will move manufacturing from its north Wales factory to Norfolk, the company announced yesterday.

Staff at the factory in Mold were told yesterday that the factory will close early next year, with the loss of 117 jobs, following a strategic review announced last December.

It comes months after staff at the company’s Norfolk base in Thetford were told that 85 local jobs could go as the firm ceases manufacturing loss-making products.

The decision will see production at Mold transferring to Jeyes’ facility in Thetford.

Jeyes employs 350 people in the eastern region and 1,650 worldwide.

Nicholas Goodwin, chief financial officer at Jeyes, said at the time the Thetford job losses were announced that there was reduced demand for the products.

The company disposed of its insect control business in January.

In a statement the company said: “We recognise that this decision will come as a great disappointment to our loyal and hard working staff, who have maintained consistently high standards throughout this review period.

“We will continue to consult with, inform and support our staff through the closure programme and will work with unions and local authorities as appropriate.”

The north Wales Jeyes site, at the Bromfield Industrial Estate, opened in 1979 and manufactures cleaning products for catering, housekeeping, air care, floor care, laundry and general cleaning.
