Fakenham chocolate maker Kinnerton looks set to be taken over by privately owned German food business Zertus in a £42.7m deal.

Zetar was formed in January 2005 and publicly listed in a bid to acquire food companies.

It’s first acquisition in April 2005 was Kinnerton, which bases its product around the concept of character merchandising.

Kinnerton was established in 1978, named after the street where founder Clive Beecham lived.

Kinnerton It moved to Norfolk in 1988 after buying one of its suppliers, Gilchris Confectionery, which had recently relocated its factory to Fakenham, Norfolk.
