A Norwich businessman has invested £35,000 in opening a new vegetarian Indian restaurant, which he believes will be the first of its kind in Norfolk.
Vijay Jetani and his wife Urmila are aiming to target the busy lunch time market with the venture Namaste India in Opie Street, with a buffet-style menu from 11.30am to 2.30pm as well as an evening table service from 6.30pm to 11pm.
The former Norwich Business School student, who also set up the Lili Coffee Café in Sackville Place, off Magdalen Street in 2010, said the couple had settled on Opie Street for their new business after an extensive search for the right location.
He said the aim of the businesses was to change the image of Indian restaurants in the city as well as encouraging more people to try vegetarian dishes.
The restaurant will serve south Indian, north Indian and Gujarati food.
“Our primary aim is to provide great food for all with Indian customs in a comfortable and fun environment, but always with a view to being a cruelty free restaurant,” he said.

Well this restaurant clearly isn't for you Bookworm. How very ignorant of you to assume that the restaurant is serving vegetarian food to maximise profits. I hope, and i'm sure it will do very well.
