Southwold-based brewer Adnams has forged a partnership with the developers of an online walking guide to map out a series of rambles based around its pubs.
The EDP Top100 company has teamed up with iFootpath to create 11 walks exploring Norfolk and Suffolk beauty spots with refreshment stops at 15 Adnams pubs, including The Wherry Inn at Geldeston and The Ferry Inn at Stokesby.
Emma Hibbert, head of corporate affairs at Adnams said: “Many Adnams pubs are situated in the perfect position to take advantage of East Anglia’s beautiful natural scenery.
“With a mix of coast, heaths and woodland walks, the terrain in this part of the UK is gentle enough for most walkers to enjoy and packed full of interesting sights as well as an abundance of wildlife.
“There’s nothing better than to sit down in a warm, welcoming pub after a good walk to enjoy a well-earned pint or a hearty lunch.”
iFootpath has been launched by husband and wife team Richard and Claire Jemmett who have set up a library of modern walking guides and made then available via a smartphone app.
The guides offer turn-by-turn directions, photography, history, environmental information, and a detailed description of the routes.
Adnams pubs also featured on the walking guide include: Kings and Sailors at Orford, The White Hart at Blythburgh and The Eel’s Foot near Minsmere.
Mrs Jemmett said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Adnams to create pub walking guides in East Anglia. Walking is one of the best ways to work up an appetite – with lots of fresh air and chance to raise your heart rate – and what better way of satisfying your hunger and thirst than a great Adnams pub.”
Walkers are also encouraged to contribute to the walks, sharing their comments and photos, helping to ensure that the walks are up-to-date.
