A Norwich-based rubber stamp manufacturer has invested more than 80,000 in revamping its new headquarters.

Stamps Direct made the leap to its new home on Mason Road after it became too big for its current base on Eade Road – where it has been for nearly 50 years.

It comes after the firm, which makes and engraves printing stamps, decided to plough 31,000 into buying two new stamp engravers as the company looks to modernise for the future.

David Gigg, above, the grandson of the founder George Gigg, forecasted a healthy turnover increase for the company, which is looking to rise from 1.8m to 2m next year.

He said: 'Because of the space at our base on Eade Road we didn't have room to buy in the technology that we wanted, but now we have got the room to invest.

'The move to Mason Road will allow us to continue to expand the business and introduce further efficiency and modernisation.'

The company first started production in the founder's garage on Waterloo Park Avenue in 1964 and moved to Eade Road in the late 1960s.

The firm, which was taken over by David Gigg in 2005, currently employs 12 staff.
