Burglars stole jewellery and a laptop during a series of raids on a south Norfolk village this week.

The first incident took place on Saturday between 6pm and 10.45pm when burglars broke into a house in Church Road, Tasburgh by smashing a rear kitchen door.

They then made an untidy search of the property stealing a Toshiba laptop, purse, cash, games console and jewellery.

A house in Everson Road was then targeted when raiders forced a back door before carrying out an untidy search, stealing a watch and jewellery.

The third break-in was in Orchard Way shortly before 10.40pm on Thursday when burglars smashed glass in a kitchen door.

This disturbed the householder who was upstairs at the time and shouted, causing the burglars to flee the scene.

South Norfolk policing commander, Chief Insp Stuart Armes, urged householders to be vigilant and report anything out of the ordinary.

He also warned homeowners not to leave keys in locks as in some cases the burglars had reached in through the broken glass and unlocked the door.

He said: “In this current series, we believe the majority of homes would have been targeted during hours of darkness. With this in mind, I would urge homeowners to take measures to help protect homes including using automatic timers on lights or leaving the radio on – giving a would-be thief the impression that someone is at home.

Anyone with information should phone DC Carly Jermy at Norwich police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
