A charity shop in Brundall has given a big boost to a hospital appeal to help treat more patients with prostate cancer.
The Cancer Community Chest, which opened in Brundall in 1995, raised £10,000 for the Norfolk and Waveney Prostate Cancer Support Group in just 18 months.
The funds will be added to the £10,000 the support group has already pledged to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital’s (NNUH) Targeted Radiotherapy Appeal (TRA).
Led by a committee of eight, the shop is staffed by a team of 40 volunteers.
The Targeted Radiotherapy Appeal is aiming to raise £600,000 to offer more cancer treatments at the NNUH. Christine Buchanan, from the Brundall shop, said: “We felt that this new centre would benefit not only prostate cancer patients but other patients who would otherwise have to travel to London or Cambridge.”
