A Broads pub that was ravaged by fire two weeks ago has reopened and is serving food again.

The blaze at Coldham Hall, in Surlingham, near Norwich, destroyed the kitchen although the remainder of the building was saved including the thatch covering the grade II listed building.

The pub reopened four days after the fire offering drinks and a barbecue in the riverside garden. And now it's fully functional again offering food from a temporary mobile kitchen.

Extensive work is being carried out, including the erection of a temporary roof over the burnt-out kitchen, with the rebuild estimated to take a further 12 weeks.

However, landlady Natalie Linder is determined to carry on trading to serve the loyal locals as well as holidaymakers on hire boats on the Broads.

She said: 'We are currently offering a limited menu composed of our most popular dishes, with more dishes being added to the menu over the next few weeks. Our bar and restaurant were unaffected by the fire so there is no reason why we cannot continue to trade as normal, and now we are in the warm summer months we can also offer barbecues in our riverside gardens.'

She said they were looking for as much support as possible following rumours that the pub had burnt down and was no longer trading.

More than 40 firefighters and 10 appliances from stations across Norfolk and Suffolk attended the blaze, at about 3pm on June 30, and afterwards George Linder praised the quick response.

Mr Linder, who bought the picturesque 19th century pub and restaurant with his wife five years ago, said no one was in the pub at the time of the incident.

Phil Berry, investigator for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, said: 'A combined investigation carried out by ourselves and independent investigators concluded that the fire was accidental with the cause in and/or around electrical appliances in the kitchen.'
