Last Night of the Blickling Proms on Saturday August 9 will feature singalong Great War songs among its mix of classical and patriotic music.

Now organisers have announced that a £1 donation from every programme sold will be given to the new Veterans Norfolk umbrella organisation which brings together all the service welfare charities in the county.

Lisa Ward of Revival Productions said they wanted to support a military charity the launch of Veterans Norfolk was 'the perfect match'.

Charity president General the Lord Dannatt said: 'This is a great opportunity for Veterans Norfolk and its members to showcase their work and demonstrate how they can work together collaboratively to deliver improved services. As a fledgling organisation we are extremely grateful to the Last Night of the Blickling Proms team for choosing us as their partner charity.'

The National Trust property has its own connections with the war. Pictures from 1914 show the South Wales Yeomanry in front of the hall, while the church has a memorial to locals who lost their lives in the conflict.

The Sinfonia Viva orchestra will provide the music for the Last night of the Blickling Proms, which also features a choreographed air display by a Spitfire from a later era, as well as timeless, rousing songs such as Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory in a fireworks finale.

The event is sponsored by Belling, in partnership with the EDP. Tickets (£33 in advance or £36 on the night) are available online at www.revival-productions.co.uk or through the box office on 01263 734711. Group discounts of up to 20pc are also available.
