Blickling Estate is overall winner in tourism award

Norfolk’s Blickling Estate has been announced the winner in an award for the tourist attraction families like the most.
The 5,000 acre estate was chosen by parents of children aged four to 11.
Jo Bosch, marketing and visitor manager at Blickling Estate, said they had worked hard to improve their offer for families last year.
She said: “Thankfully the days of staff and volunteers simply acting as ‘guards of the collection’ are long gone. Everybody is now encouraged to surprise and delight visitors of all ages.”
The survey was sent out to 198 schools across Norfolk and parents also cast nominations online. Other regional winners was last year’s joint overall winner Bewilderwood in Hoveton who won best family attraction and the Running Horse in Fakenham which one the best family friendly eating place.
■Farmer Fred’s in Hunstanton won best indoor play area.
■Blickling Hall won best historic attraction.
■Splash in Sheringham won the best sports centre.
■Jump for Joy in Rackheath won the best party venue and entertainer.
■Sticky Earth Cafe in Cromer won best craft activity provider.
■Startrite Factory Shop won best clothes/shoe shop.
■Chapelfield in Norwich won best family friendly shopping centre.
■Paul’s Cycles in Dereham won best bike store.
■Own Barn, Woodfarm Barns in Broomsthorpe won best UK holiday destination.
