Police have urged drivers in Norfolk to take extra care today, after snow and rain overnight led to surface water building up on many of the county’s roads.
A spokesman for Norfolk police said the problem was particularly bad on the A47 near Norwich, especially near Colney and Harford Bridges.
A lane of the carriageway was blocked at Colney after a crash, involving three cars, happened at 7.10am today.
A police spokesman urged drivers to be careful, to take extra time to reach their destinations, to keep their speed down and to keep a good distance between them and other vehicles.
University of East Anglia-based forecasters Weatherquest said despite the cloudy, wet and windy start, the region should be in for drier and brighter weather as the day goes on.

Do you know if the accident was caused by speed? Did you witness it? Probably not! Anyone who drives down this stretch of road everyday will tell you the drainage is appalling with gullys and drains constantly blocked with rubbish or debris. They would appear to have not been unblocked for months or even years. It would cost much to to that once in a while...would it.

These lunatics will drive at the same speed whatever the conditions. Highways could do more to alleviate the build up of water by maintaining the gully ways a bit more but then there just isn`t the money about nowadays to do it as often they used to. These are the same plonkers who drive their vehicles into floods and wonder why their cars conk out.

And will they take care...NO...they will allow themselves the same amount of time for the journey as on a hot sunny day. Despite it blowing a gale and lashing down with rain...
