A Norfolk supermarket check-out worker has won a national cupcake competition.
Attleborough Sainsbury’s worker Angie Castle was put forward by chef Trudie Harrison who had seen other cake creations by her colleague, who is self taught and only started baking 18 months ago for family and friends.
The competition was arranged by 7 Day Catering, who run all Sainsbury’s canteens.
The first round was judged in-store and she was put through to the final which took place in Caldecott. Judging included a blind taste test and Mrs Castle was announced the winner out of 18 finalists.
She said she was “over the moon” to have won the competition and thanked her colleagues and her family for their support, including husband Perry and sons Bens and James.
