It happened in Sunny Close in the early hours of Sunday, February 23, when between 3.30am and 4.30am an unknown number of suspects tried to break in by tampering with a door lock.

The householder was woken by a noise and turned a light on, which may have disturbed the offenders.

The following day it was discovered that the lock barrel had been broken.

Homeowners are now being urged to be vigilant and to keep their doors and windows locked wherever possible, especially overnight.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything out of the ordinary.

• Witnesses should contact Det Sgt Sarah Knights at Norwich CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
