A charity has attended almost 30 extra missions after extending its flying hours at the start of the summer.
Because of the increased daylight hours over the summer months, the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) helicopter, based in Norwich, has been flying from 7am to 7pm each day from the end of May to help save more lives. Anglia One usually flies until 5pm.
Air ambulance doctor Harris Begovic and critical care paramedic Ben Caine attended a man in his 40s after he suffered a cardiac arrest one evening in June.
Anglia One was sent to Potter Heigham at about 6.30pm where the medics resuscitated the patient at the scene and then airlifted him to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Alistair Wilson, EAAA medical director, said: “We are so pleased with the result from our extended hours flying. The team have worked extremely hard and it is clear there is a real need for our extended service throughout the summer months.”
