Norfolk Police took the decision to close the A47 between Acle and Great Yarmouth for safety reasons after two crashes between 7am and 8am.

The first involved two vehicles and the second involved three vehicles, but no-one was injured in either.

Norfolk Police chief supervisor Dean Saxton said: “The decision to close the road in both directions was taken for the safety of the crews in the thick fog.”

It was reopened shortly after 9.30am, with police urging road users to drive with caution because of lingering fog.
