A look back at our archive: Norwich City v West Ham over the years

City’s first-ever game at Carrow Road was against West Ham on the opening day of the 1935-36 season.
City won 4-3; City captain Doug Lochhead scored the ground’s first goal. During a thirty-year period, 1973-2003, Norwich were unbeaten at home against West Ham.
Men who have played for both clubs include Ted McDougall, Justin Fashanu, Dale Gordon, Mark Bowen and Malky Mackay.
Our first match, from Division 1, was played on the 10th of February 1973, when City lost 0-1. Our second match, again from Division 1, dates from the 25th of February 1984, this time the Canaries won 1-0. Our third match, from the Premiership, is an encounter from 25th October 1993, which was a no-score draw. City and West Ham ended up 12th and 13th in the table respectively at season’s end.
