Another funny faux pas in the long-running Heartsease Road roundabout saga has given city folk something to smile about.

Norfolk County Council has said it will be promptly replacing a new sign in Harvey Lane, near the controversial roundabout, which has been getting a revamp since last September.

The error was spotted when eagle-eyed passers-by noticed the sign, just before the exit from the Aldi supermarket car park and the currently closed Heartsease pub, which says "No left turn for HGVs into Plumstead Lane".

However, there is no such road by that name - only the aforementioned Harvey Lane, Heartsease Lane, Plumstead Road and St Williams Way - all branching off from the roundabout.

A spokesman said the county council is aware of the mishap, which will be rectified "as soon as possible".

They said: "We are aware of the error on the sign which will be corrected as soon as possible at no cost to the project."

Another funny typo appeared near the roundabout in February, when a road sign popped up outside the Great Eastern Model Railways shop, in Plumstead Road, saying "pedestrian access to bisinesses only".

The £4.4m revamp of the roundabout started in September and has brought major disruption to the area since it began.

Initially scheduled to finish in April the project fell a month behind schedule, due to unexpected drainage problems, deemed "unacceptable" by businesses feeling the effects of the work.

The road closures have hit nearby shops hard, including Ozgul Balcimer, who owns Hartlands fish and chip shop in Harvey Lane, and Anne Martin, owner of Great Eastern Model Railways.

On April 13 the roundabout was closed to traffic altogether and shut from all approaches, ahead of the roundabout finally reopening on Saturday, May 18.
