A 10-day internet outage that caused major disruption for homeworkers, shops and even a health centre has now been fixed.

Folk in Thorpe St Andrew are feeling relieved after BT Openreach confirmed that work to restore a damaged cabinet had been completed on Thursday.

Those living in a roughly half-mile radius of the junction of St Williams Way and Thunder Lane were left without an internet connection on Monday, March 11.

During the work, a temporary internet connection was put in place but residents complained about it being intermittent and unreliable.

Thorpe Health Centre had to close with many patients having appointments cancelled or rescheduled.

An East Norwich Medical Partnership spokesman had said: "Clinical services have been moved to the practice’s main site at Sprowston and will continue to be delivered there until the internet issues are resolved."
