Thorpe St Andrew Town Council's book sale has received overwhelming donations.

The sale which will be held by Thorpe St Andrew Town Council today (Saturday, March 16), between 10am-3pm at the town hall, will raise funds for updating children's play equipment in Fitzmaurice Park.

The council appealed for second-hand books last month and found itself inundated with donations.

There are now more than 2,000 books that will be available to buy at today's event.

A council spokeswoman said: “When we put out an appeal for donations of books to sell, we never dreamed we would get so many.
