Plans to close the A47 between Postwick and Trowse tonight for roadworks have now been postponed until after 10pm to allow traffic from tonight’s Norwich City football match to disperse.
The road had originally been due to close at 8pm but Highways England has confirmed the road will now stay open until after 10pm.
The Canaries are taking on Nottingham Forest this evening and thousands of fans will be leaving Carrow Road at approximately 9.30pm.

@HighwaysEAST has tweeted: “In relation to the #A47 closure this evening between Postwick and Trowse we have worked with our contractors and they are going to postpone the closure until after the game this evening and all traffic has dispersed.”
@NorfolkPolice has also tweeted: “#A47 eastbound carriageway between Trowse & Postwick will remain open until just after 10pm @HighwaysEAST have confirmed - allowing for football traffic #ncfc. After this time eastbound access to #A47 will be via Thorpe/Postwick hub”
The A47 will be closed in both directions between Postwick and Trowse from just after 10pm tonight until 6am tomorrow for the Highways England roadworks. The work involves replacing the supporting joints of the bridge over the rail line on the A47 at Postwick and work to resurface and reline the A47 carriageway.
The work will continue between 8pm and 6am until Monday March 19. A clearly signed diversion will be in place.
Drivers are also set to face three months of delays and diversions on one of the busiest approaches to Norwich.
Surveys around the A11/47 Thickthorn interchange began on Sunday.
Highways England said the work would take around three months and allow for future improvement works.
Work occurring away from the road will take place between 7am and 6pm. Works on the road will generally occur overnight, with working hours from 8pm to 6am. Diversions will be in place.
