Farmyard animals, tractors, local food, music, and more - families had fun today enjoying a snapshot of what is in-store at this year’s Royal Norfolk Show.
The annual county show which celebrates the best of Norfolk is at the Norfolk Showground on June 25 and 26, and today there was a special preview event at The Forum in Norwich.
Greg Smith, chief executive of the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, said: “The preview day was all about kicking off the campaign to encourage people to come and support the Royal Norfolk Show this year, and the idea was to bring a little bit of the Royal Norfolk Show into the city centre.
“There are so many things to see, do and take part in at the show and so we wanted to give people a flavour of that.
“The reaction was great, really positive. There was a real buzz in the city.”
Norwich Samba Band entertained the crowds, and there was face-painting and storytelling by Bewilderwood, and a blacksmith demonstration by Holkham Forge.
Among the stars of the day were some pigs brought to the event by the Metfield Pig Herd, meanwhile the remote control tractors on the Norfolk Young Farmers stand also proved a hit, and the weekly farmer’s market joined in with the Royal Norfolk Show festivities.
Alex Cunningham, from Scarning, was at the show preview with her daughters Jemima, four, and Tess, who will be two next month, and her husband Matthew. She said they were hoping to go to the show this year.
“We like seeing all the animals, trying all the different food in food hall and watching the displays at the show,” she said.
