A Norfolk couple are taking on the challenge of cycling 99 miles across the county's coastline to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK as a personal tribute to a beloved relative.
Heidi and Stephen Potter were both affected when Mrs Potter's grandmother Sheila Ashton was diagnosed with the disease in February.
After the diagnosis, Mrs Potter spoke to her grandmother about the 'mad idea' of cycling the 99 miles.
'She loved the whole idea of it - especially Stephen's idea of treating ourselves to a 99 ice cream cone at the end, hence 99 for a 99!' said Mrs Potter.
She added: 'Sadly, my beautiful Nanny passed away on April 23. This is, and always has been for her. Pancreatic Cancer UK is a charity that needs donations, greater recognition, and support and this is something we've planned and organised ourselves.'
Mrs Potter - who had treatment for cervical cancer - has taken part in the 10km Race for Life in Norwich for the past seven years with a friend and also took part in a 5km Race for Life at Houghton Hall.
'I have some lovely people in my life that have helped me raise just over £1500 for Cancer Research.
Although this is a bigger challenge than before, she is now supported by her husband.
Mr Potter said after seven years of supporting his wife's fundraising 'it is about time I got off my backside and did something myself other than standing at the finish line and buying bacon sandwiches!'
The couple are setting off from their home in Terrington St Clement, near King's Lynn on July 29.
Friends will be following with food, drink, puncture repair kits, tyres and cushions.
They will make a few stops at Old Hunstanton Lighthouse, Cley Windmill and Happisburgh Lighthouse.
On reaching their final destination at Great Yarmouth, the couple will get to tuck into their much deserved 99 cone in tribute to Mrs Potter's grandmother.
The couple are welcoming donations via Justgiving. Each year in the UK around 9,000 people are diagnosed with the disease.
