Thatcher Day Since we have Guy Fawkes day because Fawkes ATTEMPTED to destroy Parliament (Penny for the Guy, mate!) and we burn effigies of Fawkes, should we not have a Margaret Thatcher day for SUCCEEDING in destroying Parliament, well credibility at least (Penny for the Thatcher, mate!) and we could throw Margaret on the bonfire. Perhars that could apply to Tony Blair and the tory clone party too.

Thatcherite policies are not the way forward.

Its the recent bunch of mothers, that have destroyed/tainted parliament........or did the Iron Lady sigh off, their expenses for them ?

Diminishing Maggie is wrong, a strong willed leader is what this country is missing...............What policies should the next government have?

Strong leader with policies that don't take cash from the old, hard working and gives it to bankers/spives; Thatcher was no better than Brown

So bluebottle you rather we stayed in sunny Jim's black n white days. Did you not carpet bagged, buy in to Sid and flow with the rest of us. Who wanted a better standard of living, than our parents.

Nope, too busy serving in the forces at the front line watching silly poitican wrap themselves in the flag in Cheftain tanks.Jim couldn't take tough decision; Maggie avoided taking tough decisions on the pocket fillers in the city; instead kicking the working folk inthe teeth. Maggie cut the armed forces with "Options to get a job in civy street" using alan whicker lookalike henchman Tom King. Sorry Mad, few kind words for Maggie!

I sulute your forces stint Bluebottle, I always thought the old girl looked after you chaps.I know Major fiddled about how long you could sigh up for. The chaps I knew who were in the army during the 80's loved Maggie. One had his finger shot off, after parachuting in on the argies, another sighed up for life and moved to Germany when he left. One other mate who stayed on for years, is doing private security in down town Iraq.

8yrs after the Falklands, that kept her in power; Maggie kicked 255,000 servicemen in the teeth; so another Falklands could not be undertaken again.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Options_for_Change

Among the changes implemented was the cutting total manpower by approximately 18% to around 255,000 (120,000 British Army; 60,000 Royal Navy; 75,000 Royal Air Force).

Cutting the number of frigates and destroyers from around 50 to 40.

  • Halving the troop strength in Germany by replacing the British Army of the Rhine with British Forces Germany in 1994.
  • Several British Army regiments amalgamated:
  • Halving the number of RAF bases in Germany to two
  • Withdrawing the F-4 Phantom II squadrons from service
  • Maggie the Milk Snatcher

She believed that few children would suffer if schools were charged for milk, however she agreed to give younger children a third of a pint, daily, for nutritional purposes.[31] This provoked a storm of protest from the Labour party and the press,[32] and led to the unflattering moniker "Margaret Thatcher, Milk Snatcher".[31

And nuLabour has carried on with the cuts, despite three wars with two that are still ongoing. With two more troops lost on Saturday in the unconquerable Afghan region. The worst cuts of all by nulabour chimps, was the closing of the military hospital;s. Our armed forces deserve the best, in every aspect in carrying out duties. As always they are treated as cannon fodder.

Britain: a desperate dream of migrants

The UNHCR works with hard-pressed charities that try to help the migrants and encourages them to apply for asylum in France. But only 120 enquiries have been made in the past month.

"France is no good. I want to get into London because I will get a house and money, and I can work there," said an Afghan man who was killing time in a park until nightfall, when he was going to look for a lorry to hide in.
