Yes [Y] Re: RE: Why are ther no jobs for 14 and a half year olds???

Good speech Kat lol (for any adults who don't understand what 'lol' means then there's a bit of homework for you to do)

I'm 14 too and would love to get a saturday job so I will go into town and ask in small shops is they have a little saturday job I can do, maybe people should try that?

I am also very shocked with the way adults are treating young teenagers on this! They moan at us saying we don't do anything to help anyone and say that we never pay for anything so now were asking for some advice and they have a flip!! How is that fair??!! Why don't they reply to what the first comment was about not how he spelt it??!!

Anyway, hope everything goes well for all the teens out there ,and for the adults...well...good luck on the homework...HA

That is terrible Jason has come here for advise and some snobby adults are just bitching thats horendous. my spelling and grammar is not that good but its better than my dads my dad spells two tow. And jason even if you was doing your GCSE's you can still have a job and its not only a paper-round i'm the oldest out of my family and my mum passed away 4 years ago when giving birth to the quads. there is alot of pepole in our family, my dad, me, the triplets shane sean and kayleigh and the other twins joe carl then the twins lee and liam and then you have the quads who caused my mums death sophie shauna luke stuart.

i have helped my dad for 4 years and in the process of that was school and a job at 11 i helped my next door nabiough with her paper round and she gave me half of her money then i got bored of that and went to my other next door nabiour a O.A.P and did all sorts of stuff for her then 12 i got my own paper round 13 i worked in 3 diffrent pubs as a waitress (not at the same time!!) im a waitress now and i only do half days at school work the days im not at school finish school and work early to pick up the children. my dad starts at 5 in the morning and finishes at 12.30am so he relys on me alot and as the oldest girl there now he depends on me to help kayleigh.

im going of the point now!! but any way i did all that and a job so stuff the people bitchin about the way u spell.

@da end of da dai dai dnt no *** init. lol.Stick out tongue [:P]Tongue Tied [:S]

all the best for the future

Re: Why are ther no jobs for 14 and a half year olds???

Isnt it amazing that the young people on this thread, who think that text writing is clever and something special are unable to grasp that it is not a viable skill in the world of work.

They also seem unable to take on board that the people who tell them this, are in fact, not criticizing but giving advice to help them get a foothold into work which will not lead them into mundane and nose to the grindstone lowly paid employment but to help them gain skills so they can find job satisfaction and promotions for their future careers.

If you want to be a waiter/ress for the rest of your life, fine but it will become boring, tedious and extremely hard work, ask one who has done it as I have for many years. I didnt have the chance for a further education, as the previous poster and slogged for little reward for many years.

My friends who did have the chance to get qualifications are now top managers, earning good salaries to bring up their families and pay for all the good things. we all enjoy. I, only went back to college as a mature student, many years later when I realised that being up to your armpits in washing up water for 8 hours a day, is not the satisfying career you want but all you are qualified for when others are taking the good jobs because they have shown that they are capable of the requirements the working world needs and you only get the jobs other people dont want.

Just a friendly warning, it is not going to hurt us if you ignore it and keep posting silly juvenile insults, we're not going to be the losers here, you are.Crying [:'(]

Hey, well alot has happened since I was last on this forum. I asked a few of the shops in the town whether they had any jobs for me and recently had to buy a pair of glasses from my optitians and asked if they had any jobs, so the owner gave me his card and I wrote a letter to him. When i went in to collect the glasses the owner said that they didn't have any jobs until next year when the other girl leaves but today I had a phone call from him asking if I would like to go in for an interview next week on monday! So I'm excited but slightly nervous and will let you know how I have done!

Wish me luck!

I  agree with Freya this is the first time i have been on this and i couldnt believe the way the so called 'adults' were going on!! so what if he spelt some things wrong sometimes people do it just for short. Im 15 and I would love i job just too get some extra money but if people have a problem with that then us teenagers might as well just hang around on the streets I dont understand why people are making such a big deal because someone wanted a job people are trying to do something unless you can suggest something better to do with our time god!

RE: Why are ther no jobs for 14 and a half year olds???

First of all I would like to say that I myself am a teenager of fourteen and also want a job. Most teenagers of our age (or at least most of my friends) are constantly told by their parents or parent that they should get a job. In practice it's not that easy, for the people who have said that a paper round is a good way for teenagers to earn money, unnfortunately there is not enough paper rounds in Britain for every teenager who wants one. As to the 'mature' adults who have posted in this forum saying that Jason's spelling is appalling, it is simply how we talk. If you perhaps wonder why we talk in 'computer slang' its because were being efficient. When you're on messenger or texting a friend it is easier to write ' Hey wyu2? Ive nt gt ne crdit lft so il tlk 2 u 2mz bi ' than ' Hello, what are you up to? I haven't got any credit left so I will talk to you tomorrow, bye ' .  Personally I hope that every teenager who, like Jason, has said that they are too looking for a job can find one. And as a final note to those adults, particularly 'Kenneth', you need to give teenagers more credit. Afterall ours will be the generation which has to look after you when you reach old age, so dont be to quick to put us down.

Re: RE: Why are ther no jobs for 14 and a half year olds???

Getting GCSE's free in cereal packets?

Im working so hard for my GCSE's, i hear it from my dad constantly how 'easy' GCSE's are compared to what he had to do, but I find GCSE's hard! And so does every other 14 year old I know. I hope I pass them. But if I don't you adults arnt helping by telling me how easy they are because thats just going to make me feel stupid!

And as for making fries and that stuff, some of this generation suprisingly enough for the ignorant adults, that seem to roam all across Britain and other such places, are going to change the world. I have awful spelling, I am hopeless with grammer, I cant do maths, I cant do science infact the only lesson I ever get okay marks in is Art, but that doesnt mean im going to work in McDonalds. Infact I have a job actually, & I am making a difference, as you arrogant and bone-idle adults are discussing the schooling and society or Britain I'm helping run an orphanage in Kenya for HIV/Aids Children & you know what? Im proud of myself for it! I never thought I'd do much with my life but im using it now to change other peoples, and it just proves that just becuase I cant spell  doesn't mean Im going to work making fries!

Re: RE: Why are ther no jobs for 14 and a half year olds???

Hey everyone..

I came across this thread looking for a job actually and im 14 too..i saw the first page and immediatly had to join!
Fisrt of all, id like to say that whoever it was that said about todays youth typing and talking differently is completely right. I know im quite good at english and predicted an A at gcse, ive always been good*not perfect* at spelling too ever since i was a little kid. Lets face it, talking like the queen today isnt gonna get you anything in this world, excpet for maybe a bit of bullying...believe me i was bullied for 2 years because i was clever.

Secondly, why on earth would someone like that kenneth guy want to come on this forum and scare the 14 year olds off and pick on everything they do/say??
Maybe he's the type serving french fries and picking up rubbish...?
Do you get some type of satisfaction from doing that? Because let me tell you, it isnt earning you any friends...

All us 14 year olds are trying to do is make a bit of money next to our education...now what is the problem in that? You tell me...
I know exactly what its like because im in the same position..i just want to earn a bit of money on my own, prove i can do it. I dont NEED the job or anything.

If u have that much of an issue with it, look at it this way -
The more kids have jobs, the less kids are out in the street commiting crimes, yeah?

Thanks

Slave, I commend you for your puported service to others in Africa, but I don't understand your anger towards adults. It would seem to me that a selfless desire to help others should extend to a desire to be open to other sectors of society. How can you want to help AIDs children yet exhibit an animosity towards people in your own community who may have differing opinions than yours? Frankly, your varying attitudes don't collate.
