You didn't offend me, Jangel.
Whatever anyone else thinks, if you are turned down for one job after another, it's natural to feel disillusioned; you're only human, after all.
None of us is perfect; we'd have to be superhuman if we never had issues with others (older, younger or the same age) throughout the course of our life.
Sometimes we stick to our principles and values, and other times, compromise is the key.
Remember, think positive and never give up.
Best of luck with your job.

Well said jangel,
Thank you for not stereotyping us after all, I was trying to help initially and just got really annoyed as if you had read the many threads on this topic, you would have noticed there were several of us trying to give support and helpful advice.
I wish you well on the results of your search, that is a very good result for you and gives the signs that there are employers willing to give young people a chance.
Please let us know how you get on, we would be very pleased if you gained employment.

Denaosman, I take my hat off to you for putting up with a boring job, enduring a sore back in the process, to earn some extra cash.
About your spelling, you might not care about it now, but your attitude might be different when you prepare to take your GCSEs, and to be able to spell properly may make a difference as to how well you do in them.
Even if it doesn't seem important to you right now, your outlook, not merely with regard to spelling but other issues, will change as you get older.

I am a 15 year old boy who stumbled across this site while looking for work myself. I am astounded at the poor use of grammar used by teenagers, but have to deal with this on a daily basis and have therefor come to terms with colloquialisms. Yet at the same time as this I can only feel that conversing in such a way makes teenagers sound like degenerate fools. And I can only say that I am embarrassed to be associated with the likes of 'Keeley91'. Her comments just show blatant disregard for grammar and also show an insubordinate and immature attitude. Also, I personally would never employ a person with such poor grammar and spelling as 'Jason Powell' although I do wish him well in finding a job....

How many times does it need saying, col
If you have read this thread from the beginning, you must have seen other postings which have said
(a) sorry, but "your" language is easily decipherable to older people, who choose not to use it because it is a pigeon form of English and denotes the user as unable to correctly communicate in the world of business and/or worldwide with countries who will not understand this form of abbreviated script.
(b) Nobody is interested if you use this language socially amongst your friends, but to try and say that it is or should be universally acceptable, is not the view of the population of this country.
(c) You are using the same cliched stereotypes you are complaining about regarding yourself, against older people. Hypocritical generalities are not acceptable.
What might be an excellent compromise is to be fluent in both forms of language and then you will be able to communicate on an even playing field with everyone.

I think you are a very good representative of the thousands and thousands of teenagers who can and will get jobs, with that attitude and common sense, I would employ you tomorrow if I was an employer.
Well said

Kenneth just to clarify
The humerus which you incorrectly spelt “Humerous” is the upper part of your arm, which if you accidentally hit makes you laugh (well some of us anyway). I hope you realise how pedantic* you are. Furthermore now you look a fool for wrongly correcting someone’s spelling.
But what do I know I am doing my GCSE’s at school.
I am going to cook some more fries
Well done Keeley for standing up for yourself and others.![Yes [Y]](/cs/emoticons/emotion-21.gif)
*pedantic – A person who relies too much on academic learning or insignificant detail

You see Kenneth; not all teenagers are the same that you're describing.. It's something called being 'stereotypical', I could say from judging you in this post that ALL adults are rude, sarcastic and ignorant. You're not doing a grand job of representing your age generation are you? I'm 14 years old, I have a job, I have high standards for myself, I know what career path I want to go down,I respect others (which is a lot more than you do judging from this post!) and I work hard at school. I've recently completed a French GCSE and I have a Science GCSE exam tomorrow; taken a lot earlier than other children. That just proves that not all teenagers are the same. Remove yourself from your bottom Kenneth and stop stereotyping the younger generation.

I'm impressed by a lot of stories here of young people who are succeeding in education and work part time. The world is going faster and faster with information and opportunities. Boredom is a more difficult feeling to work through for young people to overcome, accept and overcome. Being bored is only a state of mind that is their for a purpose. Being 14 was not an easy time for me. It was a time of many uncertainties and expectations. It sometimes helps if there are activities that come to you and you get going and put your energy into. There is the common habit of waiting around too long for things to come to you. Seek things to do. I did gardening for neighbours when I was 14-16, hoeing, mowing lawns, weeding why I found both relaxing and brought in reasonable money during holiday times.
It sounds like Hannah has realised a good balance with positive goals.
