Climate Camp

ironsmad 06/08/2008, 5:11 AM
Had to laugh when I saw the video of police officers , removing push bikes from the site .What will their Health & Safety spokesperson say to them. No safety goggles or gloves whilst using a grinder to cut through the locks. I have no time for the great eco-unwashed on this climate camp and there very limp cause , but I do feel that the police are up for a scrap and use some what strange actions to upset and antagonise the eco- smelly's . I am sure that it kick off this week down in Kent with both sides claiming they did not start it, would the police still have the same attitude if the eco-smelly -mob were Muslim ?.

Personally madtosh, I've little time for Climate Camp protesters. They are in the same wacky mold as CND Greenham Common people/lefty bandwagon. Climate change is just another in the mix mantra to shout. They are more excited about confrontation of direct action, than pragmatic solutions to energy crisis and climate threats. I was surprised to see Authur Scargill. God who digs these coffins up? Just the flip side of the same loony left coin, one side reddish brown, one reddish green.

Police are way over the top and wasting public cash. If the police scaled down to to a dog watch and media turned back to their sleepy silly season, climate campers could enjoy their cheap holiday, we all could ignore them and watch the olympics, do the blue bin recycling or have a BBQ.

I would add to the eco-veggie army, poll tax rioters, new age traveller's , May Day protesters and dope sellers and users, the great unwashed and brain dead. Most are benefit dossers or got rich mummy and daddy, inheritance drifters ,now they have carbon in their sweating nostrils and being fooled by global warming clap-trap anarchists. With out the new coal fired power stations this country will be doomed . Wind power too expensive and a blot on the land-scape. Over 1000's years of coal could be mined in Britain ,so the french and Russian's don't have us by the short and curlies. Labour haven't got to grips with the looming energy crises .

Most people accept there is a climate change crisis looming, resulting from people's fossil fuel use. Northwood is an unwise form of power generation without CCT, or using any British coal. Most sensible folk reajust, energy conservation, recycling, minimising car use and campaign sensibly through MPs etc.

However, Carbon junkies in the Climate Camp folk as using direct action for their own existance and self importance. They are a different mindset.

BrownLabour haven't got a grip of anything.

No climate change looming at any time ,mans burning of fossil fuel has no effects on the climate . Pollution yes that's why all new coal fired stations must have cleaner emissions than the present targets. What is energy conservation "sitting in the dark with tea-lights " no thanks . MPs are nearly all corrupted one or another, self serving pigs. Labour & green Tory's no idea how to plan and manage our dwindling home energy resources. Fuel poverty for the masses now that's what these eco-very smelly Twits should be fighting and protesting about .

How does burning fossil fuels not have an effect on the climate? Huge volumes of Carbon Dioxide released into the atmosphere, causing reduced escape from our atmosphere of the uultraviolet radiation from the sun, causing increases in temperature. Energy conservation can be as simple as turning off lights when you leave a room, not much to ask, but apply it to a whole nation and that's a large amount of energy saved.

Harvs, this the logic and mass research of 98% of scientific opinion. Madtosh, me things you're as rare as a winter swallow on the man enhanced global warming issue. Madtosh listens to the 2% oil company bribed wackies and dodgy books.

However, I'm against Climate Camps loonies as its acheives little but irritates the public with the attention and police involvement. It's stating and indulging in the obvious. They have their own back to the cave's/teepee agenda. Northwood station is fine if it has Carbon Capture; not if it does. As it doesn't currently; it shouldn't be allowed to go ahead on balance!

The scientific global clap-trap opinion which was funded by governments, with and invested aim of  "Green Tax ". I have never be taken in the by the fat cat oil company Dollar crap. Look at all the jobs that have been created  by the carbon eco-monster thinkers. Climate change officer at Broadland council waste of money. Another none producer and form filling and filing twit .

Are you denying that climate change is happening? I'm finding it tough to decipher your comments. This isn't a dig at you, it's an honest question.

Re: Climate Camp

Harvs the past ten years have a drop in mean temperature on a global scale , with increases of carbon data up by 15% in Europe alone so warming and carbon dioxide no connections,if we don't build new power stations with cleaner emissions we will lose the living standard's we take for granted for the last 100 years or so. More people die from the cold in the winter than from heat-waves in Britain . Sun spot activity can and does account for global warming or climate change. Look at the past and the great ice age 10,000 years ago. When the Romans settled in Britain they grew grape vines up and down the country. The climate has changed and all ways will with or with out mans input its a natural phenomena . Don't worry about it more important things in life than climates.

You're just feeding my jealousy saying that, i'm sitting in work trying to pass the time. Climate change will always happen i know, but there's still ample evidence to suggest that human influence is speeding this up at quite a rate. I agree that there are more pressing matters to concentrate on, i don't think it should be number one priority, but i also believe that it's necessary to dedicate time/money to the matter of greener energy and living in a way that causes minimum damage to the environment. Could really do with a pint of Speckled Hen though Smile [:)]
