teenages are not trusted any more why????
you judge all of us just because of some of them some of us are trying to get away from the dirty looks and stuff!!
im 15 years old and already hav a mate who was killed by gang but now because of that the police are bussing round please give us a break only cause there are some bad eggs dont mean we all are :(

You’re not trusted because you can’t behave. You’re the first generation of children who are killing each other. And it’s a ‘pussy culture’; my generation as children learnt our place. If we stepped out of line we ‘got a slap’ and we learnt from it. We didn’t go crying to Social Workers/Youth Workers or our parents. We grew stronger through our experiences and learnt to become adults.

It's really weird how much a society can change in the space of a decade. I can't make it out. I was born in 1984, meaning I was a child/teen during the 90s. Yet I have noticed that some of generation born in the 90s (ie current teens) seem to be more violent than those born in the 80s.
When I was growing up, it was quite rare for children to be murdered by other children - or at least I didn't hear very much about it. The only case which springs to mind is the Jamie Bulger case. I was only 8 years old when that happened, but I remember it being on the front page of all the papers and it was the main story on the TV news for several days. Everybody was talking about it for what seemed like weeks. Nowadays this sort of thing seems to happen more often, and people don't seem so shocked by it any more.
I've also noticed that the new generation of youth seem to be in some ways more materialistic, even when compared to my own generation. For example, up until I was 10 years old, I used to have my birthday parties in a local hall and we would play games like pass the parcel and musical chairs, with party food such as jelly and ice cream. I was very happy with that and so were my friends/family. Nowadays I've heard that some parents are getting competitive with regard to their children's birthday parties, meaning they are spending more and more on expensive birthday treats. There was an article about it in the EDP2 supplement a few days ago.
However, I still believe it is only a small minority of youths who behave badly. In some ways, it is probably better to be a child nowadays - for example, they can use the internet to learn about anything they want and it is easier to find out about different ways of life etc, whereas I didn't have internet access until I was older - about 14, as it had barely been introduced in this country.
