Travel [ap] FlyBE being fined by Norwich Airport for not getting enough passengers
I've heard that FlyBE is to be fined £280,000 by Norwich Airport for coming just 172 passengers short of a 15,000 passenger quota on the Norwich-Dublin route. FlyBE even tried to not only give away free tickets, but pay acting extras more than £80 just to sit on the plane three times a day!

Almost worth a chuckle, although I'm seething a bit when I heard what the Norwich Airport MD (Richard Jenner) said that "more than anything, our concerns are about the unnecessary impact on the environment". What gall! It was the airport that imposed the quota in the first place! If they were concerned about the environment then they shouldn't mind the airlines flying fewer people. I'm sure everyone will see through his tripe.

Another example of people in power wheeling out concern for the environment as an excuse for doing whatever they want (higher petrol taxes, higher road tax, nuclear power, higher airplane taxes, plastic bag taxes on the way, etc.)

J
