Sheep killing probe continues

KIM BRISCOE
25 March 2008 11:28

Five teenage boys being questioned after a heavily pregnant sheep was kicked and stabbed have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The animal was taken from its field in Polka Road, Wells-next-the-Sea, at about 1.20am by five youngsters aged 16 to 20.

The gang were seen to kick the pregnant sheep and then stab it with a pitch fork before dragging its body through the town and dumping it in a wheelie bin.

A 15-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy and three 17-year-old boys - all local to the area - were arrested in connection with the incident.

They were later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The incident is being jointly investigated by Norfolk Constabulary and the RSPCA.

Anybody with information should contact Norfolk Constabulary on 0845 456 4567 or the RSPCA on 03000 1234 999.

I am appalled by the above...I hope these boys, do not get away with this, just a pat on the back and dont do it again

These people should be named and shamed and so should the parents, what are 15 and 16 yr olds doing out at 1.20am

I am very upset by this

Re: boys kill pregnant sheep

It is terrible to hear of this sort of thing happening and most decent people just cannot understand how anyone can do such a terrible act.

As always it won't be the boys' fault and parents will say that it is somebody elses responsibility.  There will be excuses galore and  nobody will be to blame.  They never are.

"Animal theft - English Common Law

This category includes theft of domestic animals that were confined as private property, including sheep, cattle, horses, pigs, and fowl. Horse theft was considered to be the most serious of these offences, and by statute was punishable by death. Similarly, statutes passed in 1741 and 1742 made the theft of sheep and cattle capital offences. "

I wonder if English Law will be applied???
