They are not the first and won't be the last but it is really tragic that 5 young women have lost there lives.Nobody deserves to die, but isn't somebody missing the point???
It has been said time and time again that the persons soliciting prostitutes will get arrested, it seems to me that like trying to close the stable door after the horse has bolted!! The prostitutes themselves are the ones that need arresting and taking off the street so the help that is so badly needed for them can be administered. There craving for drugs is no more deprived than there punters craving for sexual gratification. This seems to be a deep dark world that I don't know much about but surely if the service they offer is completely outlawed the other social problems such as there pimps and drug dealers might also be able to be controlled.
It has been highlighted that these girls do not necessarily come from deprived homes. Kerb crawlers are named and shamed, prehaps if prostitutes where also named these girls families could support there daughters, sisters, nieces, friends to get back on the straight and narrow away from the seedy industry where they ply there trade. Drugs seem to be making these poor girls dillusional of the truth and it must be heartbreaking for the families that maybe they could have been the ones who could help instead of some agency who want to dish out shopping vouchers and condoms.
We nearly all fall upon hard times, I myself am a single mother, I have worked hard and now own my own house. Luckily I have a great, supportive family who have always been there for me. I struggle to see how a woman could degrade who self for a drug habit, prehaps I'm really naive but we all have the choice.
